When meeting someone new in Telugu, begin with the greeting-and-name sentence, ask the other person’s name, and then use the sentence meaning “nice to meet you.” If you want to add background, choose the complete Hyderabad or Telangana origin sentence. Build the exchange from complete sentences
For a first meeting, use the complete expressions in a simple order: greet the person and state your name, ask for their name, then respond warmly by saying it is nice to meet them. You can add where you are from with either the Hyderabad sentence or the Telangana sentence, depending on the information you want to share.
The most useful distinction is between a complete conversational sentence and a vocabulary item. The question asking someone’s name can stand on its own because it asks for information. By contrast, the items meaning “name,” “from,” and “meet” are individual building blocks. They help you recognise parts of the longer expressions, but they do not replace the full question or response in this situation. The dictionary evidence also documents the word meaning “name,” supporting that vocabulary distinction rather than proving a wider conversational rule.
