What to Say in Kannada When Sharing a Travel Story

For a short Kannada travel update, lead with the trip’s overall result, then add the event that followed. Use the unlinked beach sentence when you are simply reporting what happened. Use the version beginning with “then” when the listener already knows an earlier event. This gives your story a clear timeline without adding extra detail.

Start with these expressions

EnglishTransliterationNative script
Yes, my trip was good. haudu nanna trip chennagittu ಹೌದು, ನನ್ನ ಟ್ರಿಪ್ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿತ್ತು.
My trip was good nanna trip chennagittu ನನ್ನ ಟ್ರಿಪ್ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿತ್ತು
Oh no, the bus was late. ayyo bas leet aaytu ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಬಸ್ ಲೇಟ್ ಆಯ್ತು.
It rained male bantu ಮಳೆ ಬಂತು
We saw the beach naavu beech noodidvi ನಾವು ಬೀಚ್ ನೋಡಿದ್ವಿ
Then, we saw the beach. aamele naavu beech noodidvi ಆಮೇಲೆ, ನಾವು ಬೀಚ್ ನೋಡಿದ್ವಿ.
My trip was expensive nanna trip dubaariyaagittu ನನ್ನ ಟ್ರಿಪ್ ದುಬಾರಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು

Put the result before the next event

Start by telling your listener how the trip turned out. After that, add a concrete detail such as seeing the beach, experiencing rain, or finding the trip expensive. This order gives the listener the main point before asking them to follow another moment in the story.

There is a useful difference between the two beach examples. The standalone version reports the visit. The version beginning with “then” connects that visit to something already mentioned, so choose it when you are moving the story forward from an earlier event. It is a sequencing choice, not a reason to add a new tense rule.

The dictionary entries support the possessive element in the trip-result lines as “mine” [1] and identify the plural first-person form as “we” [2]. Those entries do not establish every complete travel sentence, so use the examples for the complete wording and avoid treating one line as proof of a general grammar rule.

Try it

You have already told a friend that the bus was late. Which example says that you saw the beach afterward?

Choose your answer before reading on.

Check your answer:

Use expression 6 in the table above.

This answer fits because it combines the beach visit with an explicit later-event link. The other beach example reports the visit but does not itself show that it followed the event you just mentioned.

Make a two-sentence update aloud: first give the trip’s overall result, then add the later beach event. Repeat it once with the weather or cost detail instead, keeping the result-first order and changing only the event you want to report.
