Body Parts in Urdu Transliteration: 5 Words and 3 Example Sentences
The Urdu examples cover five single-word body-part labels: stomach, hand, foot, head and eye. They also include three complete sentences: one about having a headache, one about a red eye and one about a clean hand. Use the labels for recognition and the sentences for understanding simple descriptions.
Start with these expressions
| English | Transliteration | Native script |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach | pet | پیٹ |
| Hand | haath | ہاتھ |
| Foot | pair | پیر |
| Head | sar | سر |
| Eye | aankh | آنکھ |
| I have a headache. | mere sar mein dard hai. | میرے سر میں درد ہے۔ |
| My eye is red. | meri aankh laal hai. | میری آنکھ لال ہے۔ |
| My hand is clean. | mera haath saaf hai. | میرا ہاتھ صاف ہے۔ |
Tell a body-part label from a complete sentence
Start by separating the five standalone vocabulary items from the three longer examples. A standalone item gives you the name of one body part: stomach, hand, foot, head or eye. It is useful when you are matching a word to a picture, a family conversation topic or an English meaning, but it does not itself report a symptom or condition.
The longer examples do more. One reports head pain, one describes a red eye and one describes a clean hand. This makes them complete English-to-Urdu matches rather than single-word labels. When studying, first identify the body part, then ask what the whole sentence says about it. Do not treat the English body-part label as the meaning of the entire sentence.
The dictionary passages also document the relevant meanings of the foot and head entries. That supports using those two items as English body-part matches, while the example deck supplies the remaining labels and sentence pairings. This lesson does not establish broader pronunciation rules or regional usage, so focus on recognising the forms and their meanings.

Try it
You need to tell a clinician that you have a headache. Which example is the complete sentence for that situation?
Choose your answer before reading on.
Check your answer:
| English | Transliteration | Native script |
|---|---|---|
| I have a headache. | mere sar mein dard hai. | میرے سر میں درد ہے۔ |
This entry fits because its English meaning reports head pain as a complete statement. The standalone head item names the body part but does not express the symptom.
Review the five single-word labels first, then cover their English meanings and identify which of the three longer examples describes pain, colour or cleanliness.
